“Poor function” marble with hard “feet” – can easily damage our soapstone countertops unless cork or felt is put under it.

the wire does not tension well and gets too slack and doesn’t cut heavier cheeses well.

We had a cheapie wood cheese cutter for 10 years that worked great but finally broke. My wife bought this one because it looked nice, but function wise it’s not a good value. We’ll probably replace it soon.

Looks nice but poor packaging broke the wire cutter
This cheese slicer arrived in a timely manner but when I received it I could tell it wasn’t properly packaged as it was banging loose in the box. When I opened it the slicer was inside another smaller box and had only one air bag (?) to protect it, and it was loose. Inside the smaller box there was a small piece of styrofoam. As I took the slicer out of the box, the handle, with a small piece of wire attached, fell out. There were two replacement wires taped to the bottom. No directions on how to properly install and tighten the wire. I figured it out after ten minutes of fiddlig around with it. Also, the groove in the marble board was very rough cut.

I tried slicing a block of medium hard cheese and it did a good job but I was being careful as I didn’t want to break another wire. One doesn’t expect to have to repair a new item one has just bought. I didn’t want to return it – just wanted a new set of wires for the trouble, but couldn’t find anywhere on Amazon’s site to request the replacement wire so will have to call it in tomorrow….more info
