Awesome Results – Highly recommend
This Antenna (D-Link ANT24-0700) is AWESOME!! The worst part is I waited too long to get it. I bought a D-Link antenna for each of my computers to replace the original that came with the network card. The results for my computers were: pre-D-Link 1-2 bars of signal strength or 693-1157 Kbps download speed and after the install of the ANT24-0700 each system had 5 bars of signal strength and rocketed to 6540-6860 Kbps of download speed. I have a NETGEAR WGT624 wireless G router (2nd floor end of the house) and have had problems ever since moving in with getting good connections to desktops spread throughout the house, even after buying new NETGEAR WG311T wireless cards. A large problem was that I had placed the computers in some pressed wood furniture (desk and cabinets) to hide all the wires, etc. Moving the computers outside the furniture only made a slight improvement…still frequently slow or losses of the link. The D-Link antenna can be adjusted by angle (elbow joint near the base), are 13.5 inches tall, provide just under 5 ft of cable, and took 10 minutes to install and adjust for max signal strength and WOW, a DRAMATIC improvement. Remember to tinker around with the positioning (base location and antenna angle) to avoid electrical interference, dense furniture, line-of-sight between router and computer, etc. You can use the Windows Wireless Network Connection as you tinker to measure signal strength or try a free online network speed tester. I went to www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ for before and after connection speeds. I highly recommend the antenna…Again, I have AWESOME results….more info

Incompatible Product
The product was incompatible with my Belkin router. Unlike some of the earlier reviews it is impossible to remove the current antenna on your router and replace it with this one. Take my advice and replace your router itself. You will save yourself time and frustration. The new MIMO technology and N-router have made this product obsolete….more info

Improvement but not the complete answer
Summary: Worth the $16 (after rebate) to get a small improvement in signal.

My house is made of concrete and 3.5 stories high. The antenna improved my reception by “one bar”. This was appreciated and did improve my connection reliability or transfer speed. It did not create a huge difference, thus only giving 3 stars.

The most important benefit is having the ability to move the antenna away from the wireless router, based on the cable that is supplied. This gave me the opportunity to maximize the signal strength without having to move my router.

As other people have noted, make sure you know that the antenna signal is orthogonal (perpendicular). Do NOT point the antenna at your computer. This will only weaken the signal….more info

Wow it actually gained 2 inches further.
This is the worse money stealing product I’ve ever bought. My -dbi went up 2%. That means it went further by about 2 inches. For the money I spent on this antenna, I was expecting it go at lease 150 ft further. It did not make any difference on my linksys wrt54. I’ve bought 2 of these antennas replacing the current linksys 2dbi antenna(I think it’s 2dbi). I just went back to the linksys antenna. Same result anyway. Good design and quality. But terrible product since it doesn’t even serve the only purpose it was initally made for….more info
