Awesome Results – Highly recommend ![]() This Antenna (D-Link ANT24-0700) is AWESOME!! The worst part is I waited too long to get it. I bought a D-Link antenna for each of my computers to replace the original that came with the network card. The results for my computers were: pre-D-Link 1-2 bars of signal strength or 693-1157 Kbps download speed and after the install of the ANT24-0700 each system had 5 bars of signal strength and rocketed to 6540-6860 Kbps of download speed. I have a NETGEAR WGT624 wireless G router (2nd floor end of the house) and have had problems ever since moving in with getting good connections to desktops spread throughout the house, even after buying new NETGEAR WG311T wireless cards. A large problem was that I had placed the computers in some pressed wood furniture (desk and cabinets) to hide all the wires, etc. Moving the computers outside the furniture only made a slight improvement…still frequently slow or losses of the link. The D-Link antenna can be adjusted by angle (elbow joint near the base), are 13.5 inches tall, provide just under 5 ft of cable, and took 10 minutes to install and adjust for max signal strength and WOW, a DRAMATIC improvement. Remember to tinker around with the positioning (base location and antenna angle) to avoid electrical interference, dense furniture, line-of-sight between router and computer, etc. You can use the Windows Wireless Network Connection as you tinker to measure signal strength or try a free online network speed tester. I went to www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ for before and after connection speeds. I highly recommend the antenna…Again, I have AWESOME results…. Incompatible Product Improvement but not the complete answer My house is made of concrete and 3.5 stories high. The antenna improved my reception by “one bar”. This was appreciated and did improve my connection reliability or transfer speed. It did not create a huge difference, thus only giving 3 stars. The most important benefit is having the ability to move the antenna away from the wireless router, based on the cable that is supplied. This gave me the opportunity to maximize the signal strength without having to move my router. As other people have noted, make sure you know that the antenna signal is orthogonal (perpendicular). Do NOT point the antenna at your computer. This will only weaken the signal…. Wow it actually gained 2 inches further. |

So far, so good.
I’ve had this D-Link antenna for little over a month now and it continues to function as advertised. Primarily I purchased this antenna for use with my Xbox360. I needed a power boost due to the distance between my wireless router and my Xbox wireless adapter. Also, I was able to receive a signal between two brick and block exterior walls. For anyone looking for a good, inexpensive range-boosting antenna, I would recommend this one from D-link.
