“Ergonomics deficient but works well” The ergonomics need improvement, but everything functions properly. I loved my MS Sidewinder 3D Pro but many new PCs obsoleted the 15-pin joystick port, so I had to buy a USB joystick. The Saitek had the same “swivel” rudder control that I loved on the Sidewinder. The RAH-66 Comanche was reported to have the same type of rudder control before DoD axed the program, so apparently the higher-ups liked the control interface as well.

Complete Control
I use this unit to fly combat missions in Microsoft’s various Flight Simulators and in piloting a Mech during Mechwarrior battles. The unit makes the transition easily. I don’t have to worry about the technology in my hand, it just performs. Overall, it provides a flexible (programable) platfrom that delivers impressive gaming performace. A great device….more info

ok, not great
It works, and it self calibrates. I think that needs to be explained. My prior joysticks needed to be calibrated with the operating system. You ran a utility on the screen and moved the joystick through its full range. This joystick has some internal calibrating which is working fine so far. If it goes out of calibration during a game, I just unplug the usb cable and plug it back in and continue game.

I dont like the shape/size. My hand (adult male)seems too big for the design. There is a movable bottom hand rest. I move it down far enough so I can use the trigger and thumb buttons, but it feels like I should move it further down. I cant move it further down, and i already cant reach the top thumb buttons with ease, so I wouldn’t want it further down.

The throttle is in the back center, this is not good. You wind up hitting it with your wrist. There is no way to stretch out a finger to adjust it, so you must use 2 hands, or remove your hand from the stick.

I have only used it for about a month, but I already experience some binding in the central balljoint at the base of the stick.

For the price, it seems reasonable. There really are not a lot of choices in the mid-price range….more info
