“Does its job” It does what it claims to do. Locks into the channel and guides the workpiece nicely. As to its longevity…we’ll see. I’m a bit skeptical of the plastic’s ability to survive continued abuse.

Product Description

This premium featherboard holds stock firmly against your power tool’s fence or tabletop for safer, more comfortable cutting. Use it on the table saw to keep long stock tight against the rip fence, or attach it to your fence to prevent workpieces from lifting during a cut. From routers to shapers to bandsaws, Feather-Loc works great to stabilize pieces on a variety of tools. It features integral fittings for T-slots and includes a miter-slot adapter for tables and fences with standard 3/8″ x 3/4″ slots.

The Bench Dog 10-005 Feather-Loc Featherboard can greatly enhance the performance of your woodworking machines and, more importantly, significantly increase your safety. The 10-005 is made from a nearly indestructible polymer plastic, and its 13 fingers have just the right combination of flex and hold-down power to keep the workpiece firmly pressed against the machine¡¯s tabletop or fence.

The Feather-Loc has T-head bolts that slide into the machine¡¯s miter-gauge slot. It also has a pair of adjustment slots and two large knobs that allow you to position the featherboard, and then securely lock it in place. It¡¯ll also fit most 3/8-inch by 3/4-inch T-slot track systems, like those used on the Bench Dog 40-006 ProFence or the 40-037 ProTop Complete Router Table System.

Consider buying more than one Feather-Loc Featherboard, since it can be used on virtually any tool with a miter-gauge slot, including a table saw, shaper, router table, and bandsaw. — Joseph Truini

Lock and Hold
I’ve been using this featherboard for several months now on my table saw. It is another excellently designed Benchdog product. The miter bar included with this model enables it to firmly lock into the miter slots of the table saw and yet be moved quickly and easily for other set ups. Its features include a special short finger among the plastic “feathers” that enables you to correctly tension the featherboard against the workpiece. I just wish that Amazon had the package that has the two featherboards without the miter bar for use on my router fence….more info

It’s for safety, but slips and is therefore not safe.
I bought two of these and almost immediately one of the units slipped in the track while the other seems to be solid. When did I discover the slip? While ripping some wood on my table saw. The knobs were as tight as they could be. I was not happy. I bought these units to make my shop safer, but instead have a tool that introduced danger, unexpected danger at that. This is not the kind of situation where poor design or quality can be accepted. I cannot trust this product and nor should you. How long until the other unit slips too? Why wait to find out the hard way if some quality inspection worker had an off day at Bench Dog? What are your fingers worth? Do you want to be suddenly distracted while using your table saw? …more info

useful aid in ripping long boards
When ripping long boards (8-12 feet) on my table saw, the featherboard functions as an assistant holding the board snuggly against the fence. Quick turns of the 2 toggles hold the featherboard firmly against the board and in the miter slot. This is a handy little device….more info
